Ltd. 9 April, 1968 [11 April, 1967; 6 May, 1967; 8 May, 1967; 23 May, 1967; 27 May, 1967; 29 May, 1967; 8 Nov., 1967; 12 Dec., 1967; 14 Dec., 1967], No. 16995/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] Compounds of formula are prepared by heating at 40-200‹ C. acylated phenylhydrazones of formula wherein n is 0 or 1; R<SP>1</SP> is H, halogen, C 1-3 alkyl, C 1-3 alkoxy or C 1-3 alkylthio; R<SP>2</SP> is phenyl or naphthyl (possibly halogen or C 1-4 -alkyl, -alkoxy or -alkylthio substituted), or an OS- or N- 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring (possibly halogen-substituted); R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>1</SP> are each H or C 1-3 alkyl; R<SP>5</SP> is H or C 1-4 alkyl; and [A] is an aliphatic carbon-chain (up to C 4 , possibly unsaturated and halogen-substituted). The above compounds (R<SP>5</SP>=H) may be converted into the corresponding salts or molecular compounds with Group I-III metals or organic amines; such derivatives are claimed per se when n = 1. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 997,638.
