1,214,057. Glazing and embellishment strips. HOWARD CLAYTON-WRIGHT Ltd. 13 March, 1969 [18 March, 1968], No. 12888/68. Heading E1R. An assembly of a glass pane 13 bonded by an adhesive in an aperture in the body panel 10 e.g. of a vehicle and an embellishment strip covering the gap between the edges of the pane and the panel 10, the strip of e.g. P.V.C., comprising at least one limb 19 which is flexible and resilient and during the assembly of the parts can be bent to engage under pressure the web 12 of the panel and exerts on the strip a force acting inwardly in the general plane of the pane, the other limb 18, which may be stiff, engages the outer face of the pane and in the final stage of assembly, after bonding the pane in position, the flexible limb is forced by means of a draw cord &c 23 over the web so as to cover same and ensure the gap. The strip may have a groove 20 between the limb 19 and the rest of the strip to increase the flexibility of the limb 19. An aluminium or other polished metal foil 17 may be incorporated in the strip. The strip leg 21 has a projecting nose 22 which is adapted to embed itself in the bonding material 14, which is cured by heat from an electric resistance wire 15 embedded therein.
