Abstract

121,332. Fairweather, W., (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Dec. 10, 1917. Sewing - machines; feed by dogs; lockstitching by hooks; needles, driving. -Relates to needle-driving and feed - actuating mechanism particularly adapted for use in a machine of the type described in Specification 121,330. The needle lever 14, Fig. 2, is pivoted on a shaft 12 supported in the frame of the machine, and is actuated by a sliding pin - and - socket connexion 19 with an eccentric strap 21 embracing an eccentric on the main shaft. The feed-dog shank 24 is mounted slidably in a tubular guide 25 on a rock lever 27 pivoted in the work-support and connected by a link 31 with the needle lever tu receive its rising and falling movements. Reciprocating movements are imparted to the feeddog by a flexible rod 34, Fig. 3, pivotally connected to a depending arm 39 of a rocking member 42 journaled on the main shaft and provided with a crank 46 connected bv a link 48 with a rod 50 pivoted at 53 and sliding in a socket 54 of an eccentric strap embracing an adjustable eccentric on the main shaft.
