Abstract

[Also in Divisions D1 and F2] In a Bowden mechanism comprising a motion transmitting core element 14 movably supproted by a flexible tubular guide (12) (Fig. 1, not shown), to at least one end of the core element is secured a male terminal element 22 adapted for snap engagement with a control element. The terminal element 22 is of an organic polymer and is moulded on to an irregularly shaped, e.g. looped or corrugated, portion 24 of the core element 14. It comprises a body 26 from which projects a bifurcated lug 28 having round its base an annular groove 30 to fit into an aperture of the control member, and a frusto-conical upper portion 32 the skirt 40 of which grips one side of the control member while the body 26 engages the other. The slot 34 in the lug narrows to the skirt 40 and is undercut at 36 in the base 30. The lug may project in any required direction from the body 26.
