Abstract
1,212,695. Sulphonyl - ureas. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 19 Dec., 1967 [19 Dec., 1966], No. 57617/67. Heading C2C. Novel compounds I (including salts thereof) in which R signifies a C 1-4 alkyl or C 2-4 alkenyl group, X which is in the 4- or 5-position with respect to the carbonamide group signifies acyl (contains up to 4 carbons), -NO 2 , -CF 3 , -CN, -SMe, phenyl or benzyl, Y signifies -CH 2 ÀCH 2 -, -CH(CH 3 )ÀCH 2 - or -CH 2 ÀCH- (CH 3 )- and R<SP>1</SP> signifies (a) a C 3-6 alkyl or C 3-6 alkenyl group, (b) a phenyl-C 1-4 -alkyl group, (c) a cyclohexyl - C 1-4 - alkyl, cycloheptyl - methyl (or -ethyl) or cyclooctyl - methyl group, (d) an endoalkylene - cyclohexyl, - cyclohexenyl, - cyclohexylmethyl - cyclohexenylmethyl group containing 1 or 2 endoalkylene carbon atoms, (e) a C 1-4 - alkyl - cyclohexyl or C 1-4 - alkoxy - cyclohexyl group, (f) a C 5-8 cycloalkyl group, or (g) a cyclohexenyl or cyclohexenyl - methyl group, are prepared utilizing standard methods. 4 - (# - <2 - Ethoxy - 5 - acetylbenzamido> - ethyl) - benzenesulphonamide is obtained by the interaction of 2 - ethoxy - 5 - acetyl - benzoic acid and 4 - (# - aminoethyl) - benzenesulphonamide. N - [4(# - <2 - Methoxy - 5 - acetylbenzamide> - ethyl) - benzenesulphonyl] - methyl - urethane is obtained by the interaction of chloroformic acid methyl ester and the corresponding benzenesulphonamide. N - [4 - (# - <2 - Methoxy - 5 - acetyl - benzamido> - ethyl) - benzenesulphonyl] - N<SP>1</SP> - (#- phenyl - ethyl) - thiourea, obtained by reacting phenylethyl isocyanate with the corresponding sulphonamide, is converted to N - [4 - (# - <2- methoxy - 5 - acetylbenzamido> - ethyl) - benzenesulphonyl] - N<SP>1</SP> - (# - phenylethyl) - isourea - methyl ether by treatment with mercury oxide in the presence of methanol and dimethylformamide. Pharmaceutical preparations having a hypoglycemic action contain as active ingredient compounds I; administration is suitably in the form of a tablet or powder for oral use.
