Abstract

1,211,630. Root crop harvesters. F. A. STANDEN & SONS (ENG.) Ltd. and P. STANDEN. 4 Sept., 1969 [25 Oct., 1968], No. 50793/68. Heading A1F. [Also in Divisions B1-2] A root-crop harvesting machine comprises a screen-conveyer 2 adapted to carry a mixture of root-crop and soil from crop-lifting elements 1 through a series of finger-like projections 8 which are oscillated transversely relatively to the conveyer so as to agitate the mixture to effect separation thereof at the screening surface. The projections 8 are spaced along parallel rods 3-6, which are rotatably mounted. Two rods 3, 5 oscillate by means of linkages 11-14 and an eccentric 15 on a rotating wheel 16. The other two rods 4, 6 oscillate in antiphase to rods 3, 5 by means of linkages 10, 18, 19. Each projection 8 may consist of a bent steel rod covered with rubber or plastics.
