Abstract

1,211,562. Moulding concrete panels. DAVY & UNITED ENG. CO. Ltd. 12 Feb., 1968 [15 Feb., 1967], No. 7198/67. Heading B5A. A press for moulding panels e.g. of concrete comprises a fixed top plate 12, a mould locatable under the plate, and means 33 to move the mould upwardly to press the material against the top plate. As shown in the Figures, the mould assembly comprises crossbeams 13, 14 mounted on bogeys 15 on tracks 16 and having sides 20, 21 attached thereto at desired positions in notches on the crossbeams, the sides also carrying ends 22, 23 also at desired positions thereon in notches. Concrete is placed on perforated plate 31 on die 30 after adjusting the mould as desired and running it into position along rails 16. Rams (35, Fig. 3, not shown), under ends 22, 23 are then extended, raising the whole assembly on guide rods 17 on the bogeys 15 which remain on the rails. Rams 33 are then raised to press the concrete against plate 12. Rams (35) are withdrawn firstly, also withdrawing mould sides 20-23 and beams 13, 14 by means of catcher plates (37, Fig. 3, not shown), plungers (38, Fig. 4, not shown) also being forced inwardly into recesses (40, Fig. 4) on the bottom of the die 30. On retraction of rams 33, the die 30 and slab 42 are lowered on to the plungers (38), the slab still being above the level of sides 20-23 and removable on sliding the mould assembly out of the press along the rails 16.
