A pulley comprises an annular disc 10 secured to a cylinder 12 which is formed with a plurality of equi-angularly spaced apertures in each of which a radially extending outwardly projecting stud 13 is fitted. The studs have tapered end portions which are adapted to engage equispaced holes in a flat belt.
