Abstract

1,210,338. Distribution systems. SIEMENS A.G. 28 Feb., 1969 [1 March, 1968; 25 Sept., 1968], No. 10722/69. Heading H1L. In a distributer rack for telecommunication systems having connection strips for incoming lines and physically separate connection strips for outgoing lines, the ingoing and outgoing connection strips are located vertically in line in the same plane on the same face of the rack, and are connected together by means of jumper wires running through jumper ducts. The spacing of the strips is such that their vertical edges define a plurality of vertical jumper ducts, and at least some of their horizontal edges similarly define horizontal jumper ducts, the jumper wires preferably being accommodated in vertical ducts, although they may, if necessary, extend along both horizontal and vertical ducts. Wire guide hooks projecting into the ducts partially close off the latter. In one embodiment (Fig. 1) the distributer rack comprises vertical spars 1 secured to top and bottom rails 3, 2. The spars 1 carry outriggers 5, 6 to which mounting frames 7, 8 are secured. Connection strips 9, 10 are inserted into the frames 7, 8 so that their connection pins, e.g. 91, 101 have their tips located in one plane at the front of the rack. Cable grids 14 communicate with other parts of the system. Wire-guide hooks 17, 18 respectively project into the vertical and horizontal ducts 15, 16 in which jumper wires 11 are laid. The vertical ducts 15 are further sub-divided by additional wire guide hooks 19. In another embodiment (Figs. 2-5, not shown) the connection strips are carried by U-shaped brackets (204) fixed to the rack framework. The connection pins (251) are of varying lengths, and form a triangular Christmas tree-like shape. Wire-guide hooks (211) are provided with inclined legs such that the width of the jumper ducts increases towards the rack face. In both embodiments, two racks may be positioned back to back to form an upright rack assembly.
