Abstract

121,034. Skaife, W. Feb. 6, 1918. Tanks and cisterns.-The joints of tanks and cisterns are formed by passing rectangular or dovetail-shaped projections b, Fig. 7, through recesses c in adacent sheets, bending over the projections, engaging them with covering-strips d, Fig. 5, having bent edges d<1>, pressing, and galvanizing. The ends of the strips d and the corners of the sheets a are preferably mitred, the holes left at the tank corners being closed by rivets or bolts. In a modification, the projections b of one sheet may be passed through slots in an adjacent sheet. The parts may be so shaped that the finished joint will be outwardly curved and project beyond the adjacent surfaces.
