Abstract
1,210,038. Centrifugal separators. HEINZ JANETZKI K.G. MASCHINENBAU. 18 Sept., 1969, No. 46077/69. Heading B2P. The underside of the rotor 1 of a high speed laboratory centrifuge is provided with a tapering collar 2 secured to the upper end, of a vertical, axially movable, flexible driving shaft 3. During run-up and run-down periods of the rotor, the collar 2 is received in an inner ring mounted in an outer ring 5 with the interposition of a ball bearing 4 thereby suppressing the tendency of the rotor to whip. The outer ring 5 is resiliently mounted on springs 6 inside the centrifuge casing. When the rotor attains a speed of about 4000 r.p.m. The shaft is moved in a raised position, as shown, by an eccentric mechanism which is controlled by electrical means in dependence upon the speed of the rotor rotation. The taper of the collar may have a conical, parabolic or circularly arched contour.
