Abstract

1,209,923. Electro-photographic apparatus. RICOH CO. Ltd. Oct.17, 1967 [Oct.18, 1966; Nov.10, 1966], No.47240/67. Heading G2H. An electro-photographic colour apparatus has means for moving a photo-conductive sheet sequentially through charging, exposure, and development stations in a recurring path so as to expose the sheet to a first colour to form a latent image which is developed with a pigment of that colour and similarly for a second and, if desired, a third colour. As shown, a conveyer 1 carries a photo-conductor sheet and sequentially and repeatedly between a corona device having electrodes 6, 7 to charge the sheet uniformly before exposure at station 10 having a projector 11 fitted with turret mounted filters 13, 14, 15 corresponding to the primary colours which can be selectively brought to operative position. Development of latent images so produced is effected by developer baths 17, 18, and 19, the bath 19 containing developer corresponding to the filter 13, the bath 18 developer corresponding to the filter 14, and the bath 19 developer corresponding to the filter 15. The developer comprises a pigment of the selected colour in a volatile insulating carrier liquid including a fixing medium effective when the liquid is evaporated. The developer baths each comprise a reservoir 20, Fig. 2 having inclined vanes 21 actuated by a crank to cause developer to be splashed upwardly to the face of the sheet to be developed. In another embodiment, of developer bath Fig.3 (not shown) a flap valve (31) having a flexible membrane (33) is oscillated by a shaft (34) of an oscillating motor (35) to direct developer upwardly through fixed vanes (36).
