1,209,171. Fraud preventing. THOMAS DE LA RUE & CO. Ltd. 5 Feb., 1968 [7 Feb., 1967; 22 March, 1967; 27 July, 1967], Nos. 5802/67, 13497/67 and 34521/67. Heading B6A. A card, conferring upon the owner or user a privilege or service for which he pays, at least part of his payment being marked or receipted by stamps which cannot be removed from the card after they have been stuck on once without destruction. The card comprises a transparent sheet 1 having markings e.g. printing 24, 25, on opposite faces, an adhesive layer 3 of the polymethacrylate self-adhesive type on one surface and a protective backing sheet 4 having markings 26, 27 and perforated at 5. The sheet 4 comprises a paper 15 and adhesive layer 16 of clay, casein and latex, and markings 17. A perforated area of the backing sheet 4 is removed so that when the stamp has been stuck on the adhesive layer 3 of the card the markings 17 are visible through the sheet 1. A stamp once affixed cannot be reused due to the stamp sheet 4 being made from paper having at least 75% of short fibres, and the ink for marking the stamps is such that it adheres better to the card than the stamp. The ink may also be solvable in non-aqueous solvents.
