Abstract

1,208,979. Body mountings for suspension struts. ROOTES MOTORS Ltd. 27 March, 1969 [27 March, 1968], No. 14776/68. Heading B7D. [Also in Division F2] A body mounting for a motor vehicle suspension strut comprises an annular member 19 adapted for attachment to a motor vehicle and encircling two concentric resiliently deformable bushes 18, 18a, the outer periphery of bush 18 being bonded to member 19 and the inner bush being adapted to receive an end of a suspension strut, and a tapered sleeve 21 being bonded to both bushes intermediate their mutually adjacent peripheries. The inner periphery of bush 18a may be bonded to a sleeve 15 which receives the end of the strut 10 and which may have an outer surface of frusto-conical form or formed with a shoulder. The annular member 19 may be frusto-conical in shape, the bush 18 being appropriately tapered at its outer periphery, and be provided with a flange 20 having openings therein for receiving means for securing the flange to a vehicle body. Both the flange 20 and the annular member 19 may be encapsulated in resilient material integral with the bush 18 (Fig. 2, not shown), the resilient covering having openings (22a) which correspond with the openings in the flange 20.
