Abstract

1,208,840. Sieve Drum Driers. A. MONFORTS. 4 Nov., 1968 [11 Nov., 1967], No. 52080/68. Heading F4G. [Also in Division D1] Apparatus for drying an indefinite length of textile material comprises a sieve drum and a blower at at least one end of the drum which comprises an impeller eccentric to the drum shaft and a housing out of range of the extended drum shaft. As shown, material passes over the upper part of a suction sieve drum 1 having a driving shaft 5 and a stationary drum shaft 4 carrying at the lower part of the drum an internal cover-plate 18 whose radius of curvature is equal to that of the drum opening 19 and almost equal to the main portion of the drum, enabling simple sealing strips 22 and 23 to be applied to gaps 20 and 21 (Fig. 2). Identical groups of components 8 are arranged at each end of the drum. Each group comprises an intermediate low pressure chamber 12 having a controllable fresh air inlet 16 and a blower 11 comprising an impeller 9 and a housing 10 containing a heat exchanger 14 and a controllable exhaust air outlet 17.
