1,208,755. Photographic type-composing. HARRIS-INTERTYPE CORP. 10 Oct., 1967 [3 Nov., 1966], No. 18824/70. Divided out of 1,208,754. Heading B6W. The subject-matter of this Specification is substantially the same as that described in Specification 1,208,754 but the claims relate to a method of typesetting in which each character of a font of type is converted into groups of digital signals which provide the information needed to reproduce by specific plotting steps each character, recording the groups of signals together with locating information unique to each group on a character-generating record, producing and reading a coded control record identifying the sequences of characters and spaces making up a line of composition, generating each character in its proper place in the line using the control record and the corresponding groups of signals from the character-generating record, and optically displaying each character to produce the lines of composition.
