Abstract

1,207,788. Phenyl ketoxime carbamates. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ. N.V. 17 April, 1969, No. 19688/69. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] The invention comprises compounds wherein R 1 represents a phenyl group optionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms or alkyl, hydroxy, alkoxy, nitro or substituted carbamoyl groups; R 2 represents an optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or phosphonate group; and R 3 and R 4 each represents an alkyl or alkenyl group or together with the nitrogen atom of the carbamate group jointly represent a heterocyclic ring system. They are prepared by reacting the appropriate phenyl ketoxime with either a base and a carbamoyl halide of formula R 3 R 4 N.CO.Hal or with phosgene and an amine of formula R 3 R 4 NH. Acetophenone chloroformyloxime is prepared by reacting acetophenone with phosgene. The compounds of Formula I have herbicidal activity.
