Abstract

1,207,024. Infusion bag. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE - GESELLSCHAFT. 22 July, 1968 [24 July, 1967], No. 34815/68. Heading B8C. A water permeable foil infusion bag has at least one element 5 in the form of a strip or thread arranged therein which is deformable relative to the other parts of the bag under the action of infusion water, the deformation causing the volume of the bag to be increased. The material of the strip 5 is different from that of the foil so that the strip 5 contracts when it is wetted by the infusion water, thus distending the bag to a shape having a larger volume (Figs. 3, 4, not shown). Alternatively, the foil may expand relative to the strip 5. The strip may have a plurality of layers subjected to different variations in length under the action of the infusion liquid. Two such strips may be arranged in mirror-image relationship to each other. The strip may be secured to two oppositely located edges or corners of the bag, between the welded seams 3.
