Abstract

1,205,735. Electrically controlled fluid switch. PITNEY-BOWES Inc. 11 Feb., 1969 [21 Feb., 1968], No. 7434/69. Heading G4P. In the absence of an oscillatory electric signal applied to a piezo-electric crystal 75, Fig. 4, lamina flow exists in a first lamina/turbulent switch 51, Fig. 3, thereby causing, via a connection 47, turbulence in a second switch 23 so that only a very small flow exists in its collector 45, whereas when an oscillatory signal, e.g. of 50 kc/s., is applied to the crystal 75 the resulting air vibrations pass via an exponential horn 52 to produce turbulence in the first switch, which, as a result of the reduced pressure in the connection 47 to the second switch, permits the second switch to assume its lamina flow condition, thereby raising the pressure in its collector 45 which is connected to an output tube (63) (Fig. 1, not shown).
