Abstract

1,205,607. Lifejackets. WILLIAM HART & CO. Ltd. 1 Nov., 1968 [16 Dec., 1967], No. 57246/67. Heading B7U. A lifejacket comprises a front part A and a rear part B connected by flexible pieces D, E and containing blocks of buoyant material, and an upstanding collar C filled with buoyant material. Parts A, B comprise an outer fabric cover divided into pockets containing blocks of rigid closed-cell foamed polyurethane. Part A has wedge-shaped blocks positioned with their thicker portions adjacent the vertical centreline of the front. Part B has a transverse block 14 and further blocks 15, 16. Collar C is filled with resilient closed-cell foamed plastics. Tapes 17 draw the collar ends together and tapes 18, 19 secured to part B pass under the wearer's arms and through rings 20, 21 on part A.
