Abstract

1,205,123. Attaching handles to implements. TRIDENT LABORATORIES Ltd. 27 March, 1969 [21 Feb., 1968], No. 8394/68. Heading B4K. [Also in Division A4] An appliance for holding sheet material during use comprises a handle 1 with a resiliently yieldable open gripping part 1a formed with a polygonal internal profile and co-operable with a support member having a correspondingly profiled part detachably insertable in the gripping part 1a and to which the sheet material is securable. In one embodiment (Fig. 1) a resilient support member 2, having a profiled part 2a, traps the sheet material 4 between itself and a channel-section auxiliary support member 3. In a second embodiment (Fig. 4) a support member 6 is provided with a keyed slot 6a to receive a sheet or blade 7, and a lip 6b to prevent undue flexure in one direction of the projecting part of the sheet or blade. The sheet material may be abrasive paper, and an extension 5 may be provided to fit into the tubular handle 1.
