Abstract

1,204,732. Semi-conductor devices; circuit assemblies. NORBATROL ELECTRONICS CORP. 14 Sept., 1967 [16 Sept., 1966], No. 42038/67. Headings H1K and H1R. A heat-producing electrical device 14 such as a magnetic amplifier, resistor, transformer or power semi-conductor is mounted on an electrically conductive member 28 of relatively large area which acts as a heat sink and is spaced from a chassis 12 by a relatively thin film 36 of electrically insulating material which is adhered to the member 28 and/or to the chassis. The material is preferably an epoxy resin which is applied as a coating about 10 mils thick to one or both of the juxtaposed surfaces of the member and chassis using fluidization techniques. The member may be made of aluminium or copper and may support several devices, the size of the member being determined by the amount of heat to be dissipated. The chassis carries a plurality of circuit components which preferably constitute a solid state proportional power controller.
