Abstract
1,202,500. Substituted phenylacetonitriles. KNOLL A.G. CHEMISCHE FABRIKEN. 8 Dec., 1967, No. 55173/69. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of Formula I wherein at least of A, B, C, A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP> or C<SP>1</SP> is a benzyloxy group, the remainder being H or halogen atoms, C 1-8 alkyl or C 1-8 alkoxy groups or two adjacent groups may together form a methylenedioxy group, Y is a straight or branched chain alkylene group of 2 to 8 carbon atoms and having 2 to 4 carbon atoms in the main chain, Z is a straight or branched chain alkylene group of 1 to 8 carbon atoms and having 1 to 3 carbon atoms in the main chain, R is C 1-8 alkyl and R 1 is a C 1-8 alkyl group or a group of formula wherein A<SP>11</SP>, B<SP>11</SP>,and C<SP>11</SP> are each H, halogen, C 1-8 alkyl, C 1-8 alkoxy or two adjacent groups may together form a methylenedioxy group and n is 0 or 1, are prepared by one of the following methods: (a) a compound of formula is reacted with a compound of Formula III where X is a reactive acid radical; (b) a compound of formula is reacted with a compound of formula R 1 -X; (c) a compound of formula is reacted with a compound of Formula III above and then with a compound of formula R 1 - X; (d) a compound of formula in reacted with a compound of formula and (e) a compound of Formula I above wherein R is H is alkylated. The novel compounds have coronary activity and find use as medicaments.
