Abstract

1,201,754. Pneumatic conveyers. S. MICHELETTI. 25 Feb., 1969 [9 March, 1968], No. 10003/69. Heading B8A. Equipment for reversing the position of a pneumatically conveyed fabric article S prior to discharging it from the pneumatic system comprises a pivotable article arresting grid 35 which incorporates an article gripping member 41, the grid 35 being rotatable about an axis 27 once the downstream edge of the article S has been gripped, to open the pneumatic delivery section 1 to a chamber 5, whereupon the upstream edge of the article is conveyed past the gripping member 41 to reverse the article. The gripping member 41 is pivotally mounted on the grid 35 and has a gripping nose extending through the grid to lock the article against an abutment thereon. The member 41 is spring biased into a gripping position by engagement with one fixed stop as the grid 35 proceeds to rotate anti-clockwise (Fig. 1), and into a non-gripping position by engagement with a stop 50 at the end of this rotation. The article at this stage is reversed and ready for exit from the chamber 5 through a door 15 in the base thereof once the pneumatic supply is ceased. The source of suction at a duct 9 is controlled by a flap valve 11, the flow between the section 1 and duct 9 being facilitated by apertures in the grid 35 and in a screen 7 at the downstream end of the chamber 5.
