Abstract
1,201,637. Induction motors. G. BAUKNECHT G.m.b.H. ELEKTROTECHNISCHE FABRIKEN. 10 Nov., 1967 [20 Jan., 1967], No. 51297/67. Heading H2A. An electrical machine has a rotor 20 lying between an outer stator 24 and an inner stator 25 with the air gap between the rotor and at least one of the stators increasing in width in the axial direction. The rotor has two squirrel cage windings one co-operating with the high pole number outer stator 24 and the other with the low pole number inner stator 25. The rotor is mounted from a cup-shaped carrier 19 which is secured to shaft 18, supported in bearings 15, 16 in sleeve 14, and is provided with fan blades 21 for cooling purposes. Preferably the rotor surface 53 and inner stator surface 52 are circular cylinders but the other rotor surface is conical, the diameter at end 43 being greater than the diameter at end 46. The cylindrical outer stator surface 42 is concentric with the axis of the machine so that a tapered air gap is produced between the outer stator and the rotor. The air gap length at the mid-point of the rotor preferably corresponds with that of a conventional machine and the actual taper is about <SP>1</SP>/ 10 mm. The machine is used as the drive motor for a washing machine.
