Abstract

1,201,606. Heat storage air-heating apparatus. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 21 Dec., 1967 [3 Oct., 1966], No. 43977/66. Addition to 981,713. Heading F4U. In a fan-forced-convection "off-peak" storage heater of the type disclosed in Specification 981,713 and comprising a plurality of heat storage blocks 12 incorporating heating elements 14, an auxiliary electrical heater 21, mounted on a supporting screen 22 and energizable under manual or thermostat control from the "Peak" supply, is provided adjacent the heated air outlet 18. Preferably the heater 21 is removably connected to a grill in the outlet 18. A valve 20 situated in the wall separating air inlet and outlet chambers 15, 16 and actuated by a temperature-sensitive element (not shown) positioned in the chamber 11 adjacent the opening into chamber 16 controls the mixing of heated and unheated air to obtain the required predetermined air outlet temperature. The fan 19, which is controlled by a thermostat, is connected in an electric circuit and is operable both during "peak" and "off-peak" periods.
