Abstract

120,109. Mainwaring, A. J. Nov. 7, 1917. Hair-cutting appliances of safety-razor type; razors, safety. A device adapted to be used either as a hair-trimmer or as a safety razor comprises a comb A, Figs. 1 and 7, having a longitudinal slot B, through which pass two sliding bolts E carrying a pair of rigid or flexible cutting- blades C. The comb A may be made of aluminium, wood, vulcanite, tortoise-shell, &c., and the teeth G increase in length towards one end of the comb, so as to vary the closeness of the cut. The blades C may be held spaced from the comb by washers P and by projections J formed on the blades. Plates H may be arranged outside the blades C. Each blade may be formed with one or more apertures M, Fig. 8, so as to prevent clogging by the hair cut off. The blades may be reversible, each having two cutting-edges.
