Abstract

1299366 Anchors; cable and chain attachments P BRUCE 30 Dec 1969 [24 Dec 1968 8 Nov 1969] 61498/68 and 54797/69 Heading B7S [Also in Division D1] An anchor cable 20 has one or more spaced devices 22 adjacent its lower end, at least one surface 26 of each device 22 being inclined to the cable axis such that a substantially horizontal pull on the lower end of the cable 20 causes said surface 26 to produce a burying effect. Fig. 4 shows a device 22 with a central vertical fin 31 and a pair of side fins 26 that are inclined to the axis of the cable. The fins 26, 31 are mounted on a sleeve through which the cable passes, the sleeve rotating in front and rear noses carried by the cable. In a modified construction for use with a chain the front nose is connected to the rear nose by a central cylindrical member on which the sleeve carrying the fins 26, 31 is rotatable. The front and rear noses are formed with eyes whereby the device can form part of a chain.
