1298968 Granulating materials DZERZHINSKY FILIAL NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKOGO I KONSTRUKTORSKOGO INSTITUTA KHIMICHESKOGO MASCHINOSTROENIA 28 Oct 1970 [24 Nov 1969] 51116/70 Heading B5A Powder-like material is granulated in a rotatable drum 2 having an inlet 1 for the powder, an inlet 3 for a liquid binder, and agitators 4 for forming the mixture into a layer of droplets, the lumps so formed on the surface of the layer being squeezed by pliable members 6, e.g. endless belts, as the drum rotates. The belts are fitted loosely on a drum 10, which is rotatable with a shaft 7 in a direction opposite to that of the drum 2. The interior of the drum 2 has flanges disposed around it, and rubber strips 9 which sag in the upper position to prevent the material from sticking to the drum. The shaft 7 can rotate in the same direction as the drum, or be freely rotatable. The members 6 can be loaded on to the layer by a gas, liquid, or a freeflowing solid material.
