Abstract
1296399 Water driven brushes PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 26 Nov 1969 [29 Nov 1968] 57790/69 Heading A4K [Also in Division F1] In a water driven toothbrush, the supply of water to a movable wall 7 of a power chamber 6 of a fluid vibrator motor is controlled by a bistable water switch 10 which in response to the pressure in the power chamber opens or closes a port 9 situated in the water passage between the inlet 4 and the outlet 5. The movable wall may take the form of a piston 7 the rod 8 of which transmits motion to the brush head 3 via a crankpin 16 and eccentric 17. The chambers and passages of the fluid vibrator motor may be formed in a number of stacked plates (38-42), Fig. 11 (not shown) which are locally in fluid communication with one another but otherwise insulated from one another, the power chamber being formed with two movable walls which are constituted by resilient water-impermeable diaphragms and the switching member of the bi-stable being disposed between two such diaphragms.
