1294663 Furniture frames; tables, stands F WAKELING 28 Nov 1969 [5 Dec 1968] 57926/68 Heading A4H [Also in Divisions A6, B6, B8, F4, G5] A structure, e.g. display stand, table, platform, column, lampshade, article of room decoration, toy, container, comprises sheet-form members 2, Fig. 2, secured together in a plurality of tubular sub-assemblies that are inter-engaged to provide a tubular assembly. Groups of three members 2 are engaged together by slots 4a, 4d to form each one of two sub-assemblies, and the sub-assemblies are interengaged by slots 4c, 4c, one sub-assembly being inverted. The sheet material at the triangular apices of the tubular assembly is strained, and this increases the frictional engagement. Cutouts 6 and a hooked suspension member 8, Fig.3 (not shown) may be provided. The structures may be stacked axially to provide an elongate structure. Slots 4 may have pips 18, Fig. 4 (not shown) for reception in complementary slots 14 of another member during interengagement of the members and of the sub-assemblies. Each sub-assembly may have four or more members 2 Fig. 5 (not shown); or one sub-assembly may comprise a single sheet bent to cylindrical form Fig. 6 (not shown). A linking sheet-form member 54, Fig. 11, has circular slotted end portions 56 which are each interengaged with five circular slotted members 60, Fig.12 (not shown) to provide two end tubular assemblies. Central slot 62 allows two or more members 54 to be linked, one member being inverted Fig. 13 (not shown). Two or three tubular assemblies may be linked by common longer members 66, Fig. 14, (68), Fig. 15 (not shown). When the structure is a stand, table or container it includes top and/or bottom transverse walls. The slotted sheet-form member 90, Fig. 20, has extensions 92, 94 provided with crease lines that are bent to lie against the inner face of member 90, a portion with a tab 84 being bent to project across the interior of the tubular assembly, tab 84 being received in a complementary slot 86 of another member Fig. 21 (not shown). The table top may be a separate planar member 98, Fig. 24 or (106), Fig. 25 (not shown) and may engage the tubular assembly by co-operating recesses (104), Fig.24 and Horns (100) Fig.22 (not shown), or the top may have downwardly projecting portions 112, Fig. 25 (not shown) that engage the inner faces of the tubular assembly. A column-like structure may comprise three or more sub-assemblies inter-connected in tandem Fig. 27 (not shown). The sheet members are of plastics, plain or corrugated cardboard, and may include decorative patterns, e.g. by perforations. The members may be additionally secured by adhesive or clips.
