Abstract

1294082 Slides and carriages W O M JONES 6 Oct 1969 [5 July 1968] 32285/68 Heading B3B A machine tool having a carriage 10 with a tool or work-holder 12, the carriage being mounted on a rigid bar 14 on one side of the holder and by a pair of opposed flat aligning surfaces 20 on the other side of the holder, the aligning surfaces being parallel to and equidistant from a plane containing the axis of the rigid bar and the axis of the holder lying in the plane and parallel to the bar axis. The carriage is provided with hydrostatic bearing pads which engage the bar and the aligning surfaces respectively.
