Abstract

1293996 Water supplies JACUZZI BROS Inc 16 Dec 1970 [15 April 1970] 59658/70 Heading E1X A water supply system comprises a motor driven pump supplying at least one service line, and switch means responsive to the opening of, and to the consequent pressure drop in, the, each or one line to energise the motor. Pump 1, Fig. 1, is driven by motor 3 to pump water from source 5 into line 11. Pressure switch 23 is operated by pressurisible device 25 to switch the motor on at one line pressure and off at a higher line pressure. Device 25 includes expandable tube 29 which expands, when receiving water via valve 27, to actuate switch 23. Valve 27, Fig. 2, comprises valves 53 and 51. When top 13 is opened line 11 is drained and device 25 discharges water via valve 53. The contracting tube 29 actuates switch 23 to start motor 3. The pumped water opens valve 51, closes valve 53 and isolates device 25, which remains at low pressure, by raising disc valve 71 against tube 57. When top 13 is closed valve 51 closes and its legs 67 remove disc valve 71 from tube 57 to admit water to tube 29, which expands to stop motor 3. In a modification, Fig. 5, pressurisable device 25 is connected directly to line 11, as is pressure switch 23 via passage 103. Disc valve 109 serves to seal passage 103. The expandable tube of the pressurisable device preferably has a capacity of twelve ounces of water.
