Abstract

1293754 Mounting switches; snap-action switches GEORGE TURNOCK Ltd and H C SHELTON 13 Nov 1969 [20 Aug 1968] 39760/68 Heading H1N A switch having an operating member 32 projecting through a sleeve 34 on the casing of the switch has a ring 37, Fig. 4, slid on to the sleeve with the mounting panel 44 gripped between nut 43 and ring 37, ring 37 being such that in the position shown in Fig. 4 a thin panel 44 can be gripped and when ring 37 is reversed, Fig. 5 (not shown), a thicker panel can be gripped. Different thicknesses of panel can be accommodated without needing to screw nut 43 further on the sleeve. If ring 37 is dispensed with, Fig. 6 (not shown), a still thicker panel can be gripped between nut 43 and the casing top. The switch, Fig. 1, comprises a lever 32 pivoted at 35 and rocking a spring-loaded toggle member carrying roller 17 which can be snapped between the position shown where it bridges two fixed contacts 21 and an off position. Roller 17 runs along track 16 and is guided by prongs 29 on toggle member 27. Prongs 29 fit into a groove 18, Fig. 2 (not shown), so that the prongs, and consequently roller 17, cannot skew in the housing and jam against the walls.
