Abstract

1292397 Toothed gearing DOMAIN INDUSTRIES Inc 27 July 1970 36243/70 Heading F2Q [Also in Division B8] An epicyclic gear train for use in a sealing and severing packaging machine (see Division B8C) is driven by an input shaft 30 for rotating two output shafts 18, 22 at a cyclically varying velocity. The train comprises a gear 25 rigidly mounted on a stub shaft 26 eccentrically mounted on the input shaft 30. The gear 25 enmeshes with a gear 40 mounted on a floating stub shaft 36 and enmeshing with a gear 42 rigidly attached to the shaft 22. The gears 25, 40, 42 are interconnected by links 32, 48. The radial displacement of the drive gear 25 with respect to the shaft 30 may be varied during machine operation by rotating a member 90 threadably engaging the drive gear stub shaft 26. The latter passes through a slotted guide 82 fastened to a cylindrical hub 28 rigidly attached to the shaft 30. The member 90 is connected via mitre gears 92, 94 to a shaft 96 extending through the shaft 30 to an adjusting knob 98. The gears 92, 94 may be locked by rotating a lock knob 104 to draw a shaft 100 passing through the shaft 96 to the right so that its head 102 clamps the gear 94 against the hub 28.
