Abstract
1292360 Valves ATLAS COPCO AB 10 Sept 1970 [19 Sept 1969] 43261/70 Heading F2V [Also in Division G3] In the fluid control device of Fig. 1, application of a pressure pulse to inlet 16 results in a delayed outlet pulse being generated in outlet 17, the delay being due to the provision of a throttle 1 and a cavity 3 in the path 12, 4, 3, 14 between the inlet and outlet. Venting of the cavity 3 is inhibited as long as the inlet pulse exists on account of a diaphragm 9 which flexes under the influence of the pulse supplied through passage 11 to so close off a passage 5 extending from the cavity 3 and leading to an atmospheric vent 6. In the modified form of device as shown in Fig. 2, the inlet pulse enters each of passages 11, 12 and 13 and so causes an upward flexing of diaphragm 7, a flow into cavity 3 past throttle 1, and a flow to the underside of a downwardly biased diaphragm 23. Initially, the input pulse is sufficient to lift the diaphragm valve 20 and so an output pulse is generated simultaneously with the application of an input pulse. Subsequently, when the cavity pressure has increased sufficiently, diaphragm valve 20 closes. Thereafter, outlet 17 vents through passage 8 whilst cavity 3 vents through passages 5, 6 immediately the input pulse is reduced.
