Milling-cutters.-In milling-cutters of the inserted blade type, the blades are mounted on the periphery of an inclined plate formed integral with a boss or annulus having its end faces at right-angles to the axis of rotation. In the form shown in Fig. 3, in which several cutters are mounted together on the same spindle, each cutter comprises an inclined blade-supporting plate a formed integral with its boss a<1> and containing slots for the blades b, and slits and holes for the securing-pins c. The slots for the blades may be at right-angles to the oblique faces, as shown, or at any other angle, and each blade may constitute a spiral cutter. A spiral effect may be produced by varying the position of the blades of adjacent units, as shown in Fig. 3.
