Abstract

1290236 Piezo-electric transducers NAUCHNO ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT "GIDROPRIBOR" 27 May 1970 [27 May 1969] 25499/70 Heading H4J A transducer for a sonar or under water communication system comprises a piezo-electric element 4 which is coupled to a sound-radiating, part-spherical diaphragm 2 via acoustically transparent cold-vulcanized rubber 5. The element is supported within a metal casing 1, which may be integral with the diaphragm, by a sound-insulating washer 6 against which a resilient washer 11 is compressed by a nut 10. The casing is closed by end cap 12 and O-ring 13, a cable for conveying signals to or from the element passing through a gland 14 in the cap 12. O-rings 15 serve to seal the transducer into an aperture in a ships side.
