Abstract
1290294 Automatic circuit breaker TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [9 Feb 1970] 21197/71 Heading H1N An automatic circuit breaker comprises a first, contact-carrying, lever 5 pivoted at 13 to a second lever 12 pivoted on a fixed shaft 10; a coupling 14, 18 normally rigidly linking the two levers; a driving mechanism 27 arranged to drive the first lever 5 towards the contacts closed position; means 19, 20 for releasing the coupling 14, 18 upon the flow of excess current so that the driving mechanism is allowed to move further in the closing direction to tilt the lever 5 about its pivot 13 to open the contacts; and an indicating device operated by the position of the driving mechanism to differentiate between the normally open position and the tripped position. The indicating device comprises auxiliary contacts 42 closed by a cam 41 at one end of the travel of the driving mechanism; the contacts can be open or closed in the intermediate "on" position (Figs. 4A-4D, not shown) depending on the shape of cam 41. The pneumatic driving mechanism 27 is controlled by an electromagnetic valve 35. A blow-out coil 2 and a tripping coil 3 are in series with the contacts 1, 8 located in an arc chute 38.
