1289697 Cathode-ray tube display INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 8 Dec 1969 [9 Dec 1968] 59754/69 Heading H4T A CRT display system comprises a store 10 from which digital signals representing characters to be displayed, end points of lines to be drawn &c. are passed to a graphic generator 30 producing X and Y signals for drawing the display, a scan converter 40 or 50 including a vidicon-type tube on which the display is drawn and which is scanned in raster manner to produce bright-up signals, and a cyclic magnetic store 70 storing the signals on one or more tracks and synchronizing signals for the raster scan on one or more other tracks, the contents of store 70 being used as input for a continuously-regenerated display on a conventional television monitor 90. Auxiliary display-generating means such as a film scanner 150, television camera 170 and video recorder 160 may be either synchronous (i.e. controlled by the synch. signals from 70 and stored there directly) or asynchronous (passed as input to the scan converter). A number of monitors 90 may be connected to distributer 80 and each may have a pen-type locator 110 of the type picking up electric position signals from energized plates either overlaying the screen or adjacent thereto. These signals may be decoded and passed to the processor for control purposes.
