Abstract
1289270 Open-end spinning ELECTROSPIN CORP 19 April 1971 [3 April 1970] 26060/71 Heading DID A gripper for use as a twisting member in a spinning machine performing open-end spinning comprises a tubular element 1 of which the cylindrical bore 4 is formed with a V- shaped groove 8 defined by sides 9, 10, and which is cut obliquely to provide a surface 7 for engagement by a resilient strip 18 whereby fibres 30 entering the bore 4 through a funnel 27 pass through a passage of diminishing triangular cross-section before emerging at an outlet 29. The tubular element I is mounted in a rotary, hollow spindle 25 capped by a member 26 formed with the funnel 27. The sides 9, 10 of the groove may be convex or concave, as also may be the surface 7.
