Abstract
1288321 Coated products E CURIN and A VAZQUEZ 16 Feb 1970 [11 April 1969 18 July 1969] 7265/70 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions B5 B6 and C3] A flexible laminated blanket for use in printing machines comprises a layer 3-28 mils thick of kraft paper, tympon paper or lateximpregnated paper coated with a solvent-resistant vulcanised elastomer of 30-95 Shore hardness and adhered to a biaxially stressoriented sheet 2-16 mils thick of polyethylene terephthalate or cellulose tri-acetate by means of a thermosetting extensible elastic adhesive having a degree of extensibility of at least 150% which is cured at a temperature below the relaxation temperature of the plastics sheet and, on the plastics side of the blanket, an anchor coating which is a non-blocking friction coating or a pressure-sensitive adhesive. Two such blankets can be combined via their anchor coatings and a further such coating applied over the elastomeric coating of one of the blankets. Many elastomers are specified for the solvent resistant vulcanised elastomeric coating and many anchor coating compositions are also specified. The anchor coating may contain various thixotropic pigments, or comminuted materials such as pulverised sand, pumice, aluminium carbides or silicides, garnet, glass, porcelain or blast-furnace slag.
