Abstract

1287892 Extruding DAVY & UNITED ENG CO Ltd 17 Dec 1969 [27 Jan 1969] 4372/69 Heading B3P A horizontal extrusion press has its billet container 2 mounted on pads 18 slidable on guides 20 parallel to the press axis with screws 16 to alter the vertical position of the container and screws 24 to move the guides transversely to accurately align the container with the die. The container holder 6 is pivoted in a yoke 8 about a vertical axis X-X<SP>1</SP>. Hydraulic rams 10 move the yoke axially. The lower ends of the screws 16 have concave blocks to receive mating blocks on the pads 18. The yoke 8 has lugs 30 engaged by lugs 28 on the guides 20. The surface of the guides may be horizontal but is preferably inclined as shown. The primary need for adjustment is caused by temperature changes.
