Abstract
1286334 General purpose liquid cleaner MARLES - KUHLMANN - WYANDOTTE 21 Nov 1969 [7 Feb 1969] 57152/69 Heading C5D A general purpose liquid cleaner consists essentially of (A) a mono- or di-phosphate ester of a non-ionic adduct of an alkylene oxide and a linear aliphatic alcohol containing 8-18 C atoms; (B) a non-ionic surfactant which is an oxyalkylene adduct of linear aliphatic alcohols containing 8-18 C atoms; (C) a water-insoluble organic cleaning solvent; and (D) water. The composition may comprise 1-25 parts by wt. of (A), 1 to 20 parts by wt. of (B), 1 to 55 parts by weight of (C), the balance being water. Solvents (C) may be aliphatic hydrocarbons, e.g. mineral spirits, mineral oil, naphtha and kerosene. Optional ingredients are (a) sequestering agents such as sodium or potassium pyrophosphate, (b) alkanolamides, (c) germicides, e.g. chlorinated phenols and essential oils, e.g. pine oil, (d) isopropyl alcohol. Compounds (A), (B) and optional ingredients may be dissolved in water at 32‹ to 140‹ F. and the solvent (C) then mixed in to produce a homogeneous solution.
