1286314 Seat frames and joints GROSFILLEX S A R L 30 Oct 1969 [4 Nov 1968] 53142/69 Headings A4H and A4J A chair is formed from a flat resilient sheet 2, 29 which provides at least the chair back, the sheet being shaped by bending around the periphery of a substantially rigid element 3 of the seat, the sheet being kept in shape at least by locking its forward ends in position. The sheet may comprise polethylene. Feet may be integrally formed with the sheet, or connected thereto. Seat 3 comprises plywood, metal or plastics. The sheet ends may be locked by a detachable wood, plastics or metal sheet (5) Fig. 7 (not shown) provided with ends (11, 12) received in resilient claws (9, 10) integral with the sheet, or by interengaging slide members (14, 13) Fig.8 (not shown). The sheet may be locked by metal reinforcing rods or tubes 6, 17, 18, 19, Fig.3, engaged in sheaths 15, 16, 20, 21 integral with the sheet 2. The sheet may include respectively detachable or integral reinforcing strips (22) Fig. 8 (not shown) or (23a) Fig. 7 (not shown). Seat 3 is supported by lips (7, 8) Fig.5 (not shown) on the sheet, or the lower lip (8) may be replaced by parts (5), 6 or 17-19 Fig.6 (not shown). The arms of a welded tubular support (26) Fig. 9 (not shown) mounting a seat (27) may be engaged in closed or open sheathes (28) integral with the sheet. The sheet 29, Fig.11 may comprise upper and lower portions 29s, 29i separated by an aperture 32.
