Abstract
1286284 Anti-foulant coating USS ENGS & CONSULTANTS Inc 17 Oct 1969 51150/69 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] Steel substrates are coated with an antifoulant composition prepared by mixing, just prior to application to a substrate, (I) a first component containing a base vehicle of epoxy resin. With either an aromatic pitch or a thermoplastic hydrocarbon resin in proportions of 95-5 to 5-95 parts by wt., and (II) a second component containing a polyamine or polyamide curing agent for the epoxy resin and from 1-10 parts by wt. (per part of curing agent) of an organotin toxicant (RR'R"Sn) n X in which R, R' and R" and C 1-8 alkyl radicals, X is a carboxylate group and n is 1 or 2 (e.g. tributyltin acetate). The resultant mixture contains 90-60% of cured base vehicle and 10-40% by wt. of toxicant. A portion of the toxicant may be present as needle-like crystals. The composition may also contain fillers and solvents.
