Abstract

1285762 Strain gauges CENTRAL ELECTRICITY GENERATING BOARD 29 Jan 1970 [12 Feb 1969] 7606/69 Heading G1N A capacitive strain gauge transducer comprises two flexible lever arms 1, Fig.1 carrying spaced electrodes 3 in the centres and attached to spacers 4 which are fixed to a test surface by blocks 5. In one embodiment the electrodes 3 are made of alumina with a film of platinum and are brazed to raised central areas 2 of the arms 1, which are stainless steel strips. Other constructions are described. The gauge may be enclosed in a steel shield to reduce temperature gradients and stray capacitances.
