Abstract

1285651 Lubricating; valves JOSEPH VOGELE AG 4 Feb 1970 [11 March 1969] 5260/70 Headings F2A and F2V A lubricating mechanism wherein intermittently-fed lubricant is delivered to a lubricating point, e.g. adjacent a piston 5, comprises a spring-loaded outlet valve 3, which is intermittently opened by lubricant pressure and closed by valve-spring force, electrical sensing means 18, which emits pulses in response to the motions of the valve spindle 11, and evaluating means 19, which releases a warning signal if there is an interruption of the pulses. The means 18 consists of a piezo-electric element of sintered ceramic responsive to changes in pressure exerted by the valve spring 12. A preamplifier 26 is included. The pump plunger 8 is operated by a cam 9 running synchronously with the engine crank-shaft. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), the valve spindle moves in the opposite direction to open the valve, and the arrangement of the sensing means is modified accordingly. A plurality of valves may be provided.
