Abstract

1284564 Impeller for agitator device CHEMINEER Inc 18 Aug 1969 [23 Aug 1968] 41100/69 Heading B1C The impeller of an agitator device comprises bladed members 14, 16 keyed together for common rotation and fastened to the end of drive shaft 12 either by means of a threaded extension 38 on member 16 engaging a threaded recess in the end of the shaft, or vice versa, the arrangement being such that a positive self-tightening connection of the members to the shaft is effected in response to relative rotation between the members and the drive shaft. Additional bladed members, similar to member 14, may be mounted on shaft 35 of member 16. The blades may be flat, offset axially of their hubs, and arranged to have substantially the same path, as shown, or they may be pitched relative to the axis of the drive shaft, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown). It is said that assembly of the impeller in mixing chambers having openings of smaller diameter than the overall diameter of the impeller is facilitated because of its construction.
