1284557 Cine projectors; cartridges CANON KK 3 Oct 1969 [4 Oct 1968(2); 27 Nov 1968; 8 Feb 1969] 48759/69 Heading G2E A cine projector for use with film in cartridges has a device for withdrawing the film end from the cartridge 7 comprising a stripper 2 which may resiliently contact the film roll 1 when the roll is rotated by frictional driving engagement with belt 6<SP>1</SP> of a drive mechanism 6, there being an intermediate lever 3 carrying pivot 32 for the stripper 2, and pivoted at 87 to the projector, an initiating lever 4 also pivoting at 87, and a switch lever 5 pivoting on shaft 35 carried by lever 3, one end of lever 5 engaging lever 4 and the other end being engageable with mechanism 6. Clockwise rotation of initiating lever 4 against spring 92 gives clockwise rotation of lever 3 with corresponding anticlockwise rotation of stripper 2, due to spring 91, to engage roll 1. A retractable stop 10 then retains lever 3, and lever 4 is turned anti-clockwise whereby lever 5 is rotated clockwise through pin and groove connection 54, 42 until the end 56 strikes a projection 65 on mechanism 6. The mechanism then swings about pivot O to engage roll 1. Before striking projection 65, end 56 trips a lever which acts through gears to give a small reverse rotation of the roll 1 to remove film slackness. In another embodiment, the initiating lever is replaced by a plate which is displaced linearly on pin and flat mountings to operate the device. A film footage counter is provided driven through gearing by the shutter shaft. In another embodiment, for use with different sized cartridges, mechanism is provided to sense the size of cartridge and to make a corresponding initial setting of the counter.
